This is a domain restricted form of ListeningWithYourAnswerRunning which is the behavior that gets in the way of a lot of, if not most, human interaction.  The fact that we marry our answers and ideas, become firmly committed to them and defend them even in the face of contradictory evidence (see ThomasKuhn on TheStructureOfScientificRevolutions) is a serious problem.  --RaySchneider
