Usually abbreviated as "IT," and unfortunately often used to combine the "technician" aspects of computer networks, desktop repair, and maintenance with the more creative aspects of programming. If you walk into an organization for an interview, and you see that the developers are categorized as part of "IT," you probably want to run; it means that the place has no experience with the different styles of management necessary to be successful on both sides of the fence.
