Expanding on Sun Microsystem's idea that "the network is the computer". The Internet extends the individual's storage from the progression of ''registers --> cache --> RAM --> disk --> network''. The network can become the storage device with more reliability and storage capacity than a local harddisk because of the natural redundancy of the Internet.

But no OperatingSystem has yet integrated this as part of its design. Optimally, it will require a UnifiedDataModel.
