PostItNotes: TradeName describing a series of [usually] small, light-colored papers that have lightly adhesive strips at the top of the back side. PostIt's have many software implementations: * 3M (http://www.3m.com, duh) has a FreeAsInBeer version, and a nonfree version with extra bells and whistles. The former, and an evaluation version of the latter, are downloadable from their website. The product is called ''Post-it(R) Software Notes'' and was last seen somewhere near http://www.3m.com/market/office/postit/com_prod/psnotes/ * "''Stickies''" -- part of MacOs * N''''''etNote -- free electronic Post-it software from now-defunct Alshare. Still available on Cnet, Tucows, etc. * http://www.tk8.com/easynote.asp * MoRUN.net Post It Notes Pro -- http://www.morun.net/www/products/Get-Organized.html * "dtNotes (that is, desktop notes) is a software applications that allows computer users to place electronic sticky notes onto their computer monitors." -- (fee) http://www.dtbits.com/ * "Post it Note Genie" - shareware - http://www.soft32.com/download_9218.html * "System Tray Notepad" - free - http://www.soft32.com/download_80112.html Others: * AtNotes -- FreeWare -- It has been used in my family for many years, and thus far has worked well on all versions of Windows up to and including Vista, but is no longer being developed since 5-30-2005. -- http://atnotes.free.fr/ ---- MacOs users have a similar product called ''Stickies'' (part of the OS). It doesn't have all the fancy bells and whistles (like alarms), but users generally use a PIM (PersonalInformationManagement) system for that. ---- WindowsSeven users have StickyNotes. ---- My computer runs 24/7. I used to use a plain text file for personal notes. I've started using Gnome's Sticky Notes applet for it, but the UI is such that you can only show and hide all notes at once. I'm finding it's just completely unsuitable for dealing with more than just a few notes. Bleh. If I find something useful on a web site, I tend to just leave it open. The combination of tabs, and Galeon's session recovery has allowed me the terrible, terrible habit of keeping hundreds of pages open pretty much indefinitely, even through power outages. This got me banned off the wiki once, a year ago... -- CallumLerwick ---- I use Webnote (http://www.aypwip.org/webnote/) for some time. It's online and browser-based and has all the features I need... -- FrankSpychalski ---- See: IsAnythingBetterThanPaper, HasWantedPages
